With the large selection of vehicles out there, how can you choose that one perfect hatchback for your needs?
The good news is that Toyota is coming back with one of their most loved subcompact hatchback series – the Toyota Yaris 2019.
If you’re a Toyota fan, you must have already heard of the promising quality that this lineup had even before this latest update.
This new addition to the Yaris family is available in several variants as well as different colors. You can choose from the Yaris 1.3 E A/T, Yaris 1.3 E M/T and Yaris 1.5 S A/T.
The price for the E A/T variant is at Php 942,000.00, the Yaris 1.3 E M/T is at Php 890,000.00 while the Yaris 1.5 S A/T is at Php 1,055,000.00.
Once you get the variant you like, you can choose whether you prefer, Red Mica Metallic, Orange Metallic, Gray Metallic, Freedom White, Citrus Mica Metallic or Attitude Black Mica.
After the update, the exterior styling of the 2019 Yaris has become noticeably sharper than the last facelift. Its sharp look is brought together by the slim grille and prominent headlights.
Even the rear end has had some drastic changes to it. If you’re looking to compare the design with another vehicle, you’ll notice that it has a mild resemblance to the Corolla Altis.
Toyota Yaris 1.5 G Review
Going into detail, the headlamps on the latest Yaris are halogen projector type for the 1.5 S and 4-beam halogen for the 1.3 E.
All the Yaris variants have front foglamps as well as rear window wiper. In the case of the radiator grille, the 1.5 S has sport with red accents while the 1.3 E has resin.
There are also color-keyed outside rearview mirrors, except that the ones for the 1.5 S variants have integrated turn signal lamps.
All variants are also equipped with a rear reflector and rear combination lamp. The 1.5 S’s rear combination lamp is an LED with a line guide while the one for the 1.3 E variety is a bulb type.
Stepping inside, the interior looks spacious and seats seem comfortable. The two front seats on the 1.5 S variety are both the sliding and reclining type, while only the driver’s seat on the 1.3 E can be adjusted vertically. The rear seats on all the variants are the 60:40 split-folding type that comes with 3 pieces of headrests.
Over at the dashboard, you’ll see that Optitron meter gauge with illumination control. All variants also have a multi-information display as well as a digital clock. There are also sun visors on all variants. The sun visor on the driver’s side comes with a mirror and a ticket holder, while the passenger’s side only has a mirror.
The shift lever and knob on the 1.5 S is coated with leather but the one on the 1.3 E is trimmed with urethane. There are also cup holders for everyone in the vehicle. Four cupholders are at the front while there are two more at the rear.
When it comes to the engine, the 1.5 S is equipped with a 1.5 L 2NR-FE while the 1.3 E varieties are built with the 1NR-FE engine model. All the variants have the VVT-I 4 Cylinder in-line DOHC 16-Valve EFI engine type. The 1.5 S’s displacement is at 1,496cc while the 1.3 E’s displacement is at 1,329cc.
The maximum output recorded for the 1.5 S variety is at 106 hp at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque at 140Nm at 4,200 rpm. The 1.3 E variety holds its maximum torque at 123 Nm at 4,400 rpm and maximum output at 98 hp at 6,000 rpm. The fuel tank capacity for all varieties is 42 liters with a fuel supply system using EFI.
After taking the Toyota Yaris 2019 out for a test drive, one will notice that fact that the handling is more firm at the front and a bit bouncy at the back. If you experienced driving the previous Yaris lineups, you may find this a little surprising and you may need to drive a more often just so you could get used to it.
When it comes to turns, the handling is tighter and you can easily tell that the steering wheel is your servant and not the other way around. This feature makes it easier to drive in flat, asphalt highways and rocky and uneven terrain. The handling along with the other features like wheelbase and ground clearance makes this car easy to park and ride even in tight corners.
This car is perfect for casual day to day trips whether in a busy city or any rural area. It will also do great in uneven and rocky terrain provided that it’s not on a daily basis. This is a great vehicle to invest in if you’re just starting out and will serve you for years to come.
